Male and Female

Male and Female (sh. Muško i žensko) je američki crno-bijeli nijemi film snimljen 1919. u režiji Cecila B. DeMillea. Temelji se na kazališnom komadu The Admirable Crichton britanskog književnika J. M. Barrieja. Protagonist, čiji lik tumači Thomas Meighan je britanski batler koji je zaljubljen u svoju lijepu, ali bahatu gospodaricu (čiji lik tumači Gloria Swanson). Radnja prikazuje kako ona zajedno sa svojim društvom nakon brodoloma završi na pustom otoku, te se ispostavi kako jedino batler, sa svojim praktičnim iskustvom radnog čovjeka iz niže klase, posjeduje vještine neophodne za preživljavanje. Iako se predložak bavio klasnim odnosima, DeMille je u filmu najveći naglas dao na prikazivanje raskoši u kojoj živi tadašnja elita te film sadrži neke od antologijskih scena u kojima Swanson nosi "egzotične" kostime. Male and Female je doživio veliki uspjeh i bio među najgledanijim filmovima u SAD 1919. godine.
