Dire Straits adalah sebuah kumpulan muzik rock dari Britain. Ditubuhkan pada tahun 1977 oleh dua bersaudara iaitu Mark dan David Knopfler, John Illsley (bass guitar/suara latar), dan Pick Withers (drum/percussion).
Lagu-lagu Dire Straits' berirama campuran jazz, folk, blues, dan juga rock & roll. Pada awal perjuangan Dire Straits, anak muda menggilai muzik punk ketika itu. Namun oleh kerana keunikan lagu-lagu Dire Straits yang seolah-olah mengajak pendengar kembali kepada genre pub rock. Kebanyakan lagu-lagu Dire Straits' berkonsepkan melancholic. Dire Straits merupakan jaguh dimedan perniagaan muzik.Mereka telah menjual lebih 120 juta album diseluruh dunia. Album terbaik mereka berjudul Brothers in Arms, telah laris lebih dari 30 juta salinan.
